Wear your Toowoomba Little Athletics uniform with pride!

Little Athletics Queensland (LAQ) have a strict uniform policy. It is important to ensure your athlete arrives at every competition day or night with their entire Toowoomba Little Athletics uniform on, ready to compete.

Uniforms are available for purchase at the clubhouse at Sign on Day and each of our Centre Competition days prior to the commencement of competition.

Upon registration, your athlete will be issued a registration number, an age label and a sponsors patch which must be sewn on to the uniform.

See below information on:

  • uniform cost
  • instructions for affixing the registration number, age label and sponsors patch correctly
  • uniform rules athletes are required to abide by for competition
  • footwear and spike requirements.

3311   Important notes about our uniform:

 1. Athletes have the choice of wearing the centre polo shirt, singlet or crop to compete in.

2. Although the polo is no longer mandatory, it is recommended to have a centre polo as a sun safe option during events. Athletics is a summer sport and when attending full day carnivals in the summer heat, it is advisable to wear the polo between events if competing in a crop or singlet.

3. The registration number provided must be attached to the front of the centre polo shirt, crop or singlet (sewn on, not pinned). The sponsor’s patch (Coles) is to be sewn to the chest area on the right hand side of the athlete’s shirt. The red age label must be attached to the left sleeve, or for athletes wearing a crop top or singlet, affix to left side of their shorts.

4. A choice of the centre bike pants/shorts or plain BLACK shorts, bike pants or compression garments must be worn. Shorts are permitted to feature a small manufacturer’s logo (e.g. Impi, Nike etc). Colour must be black, not dark grey or navy blue.

5. The lower third of all athletes’ thighs must be visible – no full length garments.

6. Suitable enclosed shoes must be worn at all times. Keep scrolling for more details and the spike policy.

Footwear and spikes:

Suitable enclosed shoes must be worn by all athletes while competing in Little Athletics.

Competitors in the U6 to U10 age groups are not permitted to wear spike shoes. Many of our younger athletes prefer to wear athletics ‘waffles’ which are spikeless shoes that have a lugged rubber sole that look and feel like spikes. However please note that waffles are not mandatory and regular sports shoes are fine.

Athletes from U11 age group and upwards are able to wear spikes in appropriate events as detailed below:

  • Competitors in the U11 to U12 age groups may wear spike shoes in long jump, triple jump, high jump and javelin and in events run entirely in lanes.
  • Competitors in the U13 to U17 age groups may wear spike shoes in long jump, triple jump, high jump, javelin and in all track events (except walks).
  • Spike shoes with spikes removed shall not be worn by any competitors in events where they are not able to wear spike shoes.
  • Spike shoes must only be worn during an event and are not to be worn to and from an event.
  • Spiked shoes must not be worn in the stand or outer areas of the track.
  • Spiked shoes should be carried in a suitable bag at all times and stored safely when not in use.
  • On synthetic track: spikes must be no longer than 7mm.
  • On synthetic field: spikes must be no longer than 9mm.
  • On grass track or field: spikes must be no longer than 12mm.
  • Any number of spikes up to 11 may be accommodated on each shoe, but the number of spike positions shall not exceed 11.
  • Spike shoes must be worn with all holes filled with a complete set of spikes, with no more than two blanks / slugs installed.
  • Any athlete not exercising care when using spikes them for the remainder of the competition.

UNIFORM TIPS TO MAKE YOUR LIFE EASIER

YOU’RE WELCOME!

FRAYED EDGES:

All bibs come like this. Cut the frayed edges off before doing anthing to your bib. This should be the first thing you do!

QUICK UNPICK:

Our athletes like keeping their numbers over the years. Look after them at the end of each season by removing them properly from the club shirt with a quick unpick. Then preserve the edges by sewing around them, ready for washing, then storage.

IRON IN  A CREASE:

This is recommended to be done before fastening the bib to your club shirt.  You can then sew as normal with a firm crease on the bib. BE WARNED… don’t have the iron too hot. You may need a towel over the bib before using the iron. Just be mindful on this one.
